Cody M. Kaneshiro, Ph.D., is a current post-doctoral clinical psychology fellow within the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. Born and raised in Hawai’i, his clinical training and areas of interest involve serving the diverse needs of Hawaii’s kamaʻāina communities and those across the Pacific Basin, particularly with issues related to psychological trauma, aging, and health psychology. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kaneshiro has served in numerous state and national leadership positions, including as a committee member of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students’ (APAGS) Advocacy Coordinating Team, the APAGS representative on the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Committee of State Leaders, and the State Advocacy Coordinator on the Nevada Psychological Association’s (NPA) executive board. He has also engaged in Capitol Hill visits with congressional members of the Nevada and Hawaii delegations to advocate for improved federal funding for mental health training, patient access, and research.
