Dr. Kapualeinani Beyer Cavaco is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Kānaka maoli owner of Ahonui Psychological Services on the island of Maui. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chapman University, a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chaminade University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Hawai’i School of Professional Psychology. She has worked in numerous mental health settings since 2005 including the Waiʻanae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, Waimanalo Health Center, Kalihi-Palama CMHC, Honolulu Clubhouse, Hale Kipa, and Home Maluhia. Dr. Kapua offers culturally affirming, evidence-based therapy. Her dedication to helping others learn to aloha themselves drives her work in fostering mental health and resilience within underserved populations. Dr. Kapua is especially committed to supporting marginalized and indigenous communities and with the help of telehealth, provides therapy throughout Hawaiʻi full time. Her hobbies include beach days, crafting, baking, being outdoors, and traveling whenever possible with her keiki and husband, and snuggling her 14 year old dog, Fugu. Her most recent endeavors are to become a lei flower farmer and live up to her full name, and a Forest Bathing Guide to offer additional modalities of healing on Maui.
