Marina M. Matsui (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Clinical Science Program of the Psychology Department at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM). She has received multicultural clinical training at the Child Section of the Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy at UHM. Currently, she is a psychology intern at I Ola Lāhui, where she primarily serves Native Hawaiian and underserved communities. Ms. Matsui also serves as the co-chair of the Hawai‘i Psychological Association’s Rural Health Subcommittee. She is grateful for the numerous mentors who have supported and encouraged her during her graduate training. They have inspired her to pursue diverse training experiences and to develop a research program focused on integrating culturally sensitive, evidence-based behavioral health science and practice within diverse communities. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, Marina is passionate about giving back to her community. She advocates for the adoption of strength-based, evidence-informed practices—such as measurement-based care—in low-income communities, aiming to improve mental health and enhance the quality of life for the people of Hawaiʻi.
